Internet explorer 6 transparency

There are a number of javascript components that automatically create transparent images for internet explorer 6. We have used a few of them and every single one has caused problems in one way or another. They all work most of the time which is great for smaller websites or if you haven't done anything fancy with your images. But if you do come across problems then the best way to solve the problem is to use the old fashioned way, through CSS.

* html #some_div { background-image:none; filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader( enabled='true', sizingMethod='crop', src='images/transparent.png' ); }

The CSS version works everytime and also works with users that have javascript turned off. If you only have a few transparent png's on your website or you want to ensure that they are working correctly in internet explorer 6, it may be best to do the more simple CSS method.
